Greetings from Lillehammer!
We are in the middle of an incredible two week camp in Lillehammer, Norway! We are here with 16 athletes and 5 coaches, a small army of US Nordic Combined skiers. This camp would not have been possible for this US Nordic Combined army, specifically the B-Team and the juniors without the help of Erik Sandoy. Erik's son, Sturla, an up and coming junior in Norway has been training with us in PC since the middle of July. He will return to the USA and compete at US Nationals in LP in October as well as the opening COCNC in December. Again thanks to Erik and the Kollenhopp NC team for providing housing, vans, you name it, they took care of it. Thanks again.
In addition to the 10 USST athletes and Sturla, Todd Lodwick is here as well as 5 juniors from our up and coming group (no official name yet), Taylor Fletcher, Nick Hendrickson, Brett Denney, Colin Delaney, and Cliff Field. These juniors represent our first expansion of the junior program Billy kicked off last year. We have more plans in the works but nothing solid yet.
We have had a week of great jumping and XC training so far. This coming week we will have 3 competitions together with the Norwegian A, B, and club teams as well as the French A-Team. It will be the new 1 jump and 10km format on rollerskis. We are looking forward to the upcoming week to get a gauge of where we are at this point in the preparation phase. It will also give the 5 juniors here an opportunity to toe the line against some of the best NC skiers in the world. Not just Demong, Spillane, and Lodwick but Petter Tande, Magnus Moan, Jan Schmid to name a few. An incredible experience and confidence builder for the future.
No Excuses!
