Liberec/Hakuba

Updates from Liberec, CZE and Hakuba JPN. Beginning with Liberec, the wind played havoc on the competitions and WCA had to cancel two competitions last weekend. The WCA crew is off to Zakopane today for a Mass Start and a Sprint competition. Hopefully we will have better weather and good conditions to get these competitions on the books. On the bright side, Johnny only missed one competition due to illness last weekend and he should be good to go next weekend. Billy remains second overall in the World Cup, having increased his lead on third place French-American Jason Lamy-Chappuis (Jason was born in his Mom's home of Missoula, MT). He still has a fighting chance for the overall with six competitions to go.

Hakuba. The weather also forced some changes to the program. The WCB boys did a Mass Start race on Saturday and the Americans did very well in the race. Brett Camerota had the fastest time while Bryan Fletcher was 5th, Alex Glueck 6th, and Eric Camerota 7th. Sunday they did two jumping competitions, one for the MS from Saturday and one for the Hurricane Sprint race which took place later that afternoon. Unfortunately, they didn't jump too well and on the final result list for the MS, Eric was 9th, Bryan 13th, Alex Miller 19th, Willy 21st, Alex Glueck 22nd, Brett 24th, and Davis 27th. On the bright side, everyone was in the points. The Hurricane Sprint final results had two Americans in the top 10, Eric 7th (fastest XC time) and Bryan 9th (3rd fastest XC time). Willy had a good competition and ended up 13th, Alex Miller was 17th, and Alex Glueck 23rd. It wasn't Brett and Skyler's day and they finished 36th and 37th respectively.

WCB has an Individual Gundersen competition today in Hakuba before flying back home for a couple weeks before the final 4 competitions in Eisenerz, AUT and Pragelato, ITA. More updates will follow.

If you want to watch these competitions, go to www.wcsn.com and for a minimal price you can watch as much skiing, NC, XC, Jumping, and Alpine as you can take.
